Dr. Angela Dugan

Veterinarian and Owner

Dr. Dugan, originally from Northern Virginia, is proud to now call Charlotte, North Carolina her home. She has been practicing veterinary medicine in Charlotte for several years, building strong connections with pets and their families in the community. From a young age, she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian, and she brings that lifelong passion to Charlotte Veterinary Hospital to continue serving her community and their cherished pets. Dr. Dugan earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal and Poultry Sciences at Virginia Tech and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (Go Hokies!).

With a deep commitment to providing the highest level of care for pets at Charlotte Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Dugan has special interests in soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and canine reproduction. She is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and holds both Fear Free® and Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional® (CFVP) certifications. Dr. Dugan is dedicated to improving patient experiences by practicing Fear Free® veterinary medicine and building meaningful, long-term relationships with her patients and their families.

When she’s not at the clinic, Dr. Dugan enjoys the outdoors and exploring the Charlotte community. She can often be found riding her horse, hiking, discovering new restaurants and breweries, or cheering on her favorite hockey team. She also loves traveling with her husband and their two beloved dogs.

Our Staff

Jennie

Practice Manager

Originally from Connecticut, Jennie spent the last ten years in Northern Virginia building a strong foundation in veterinary medicine before relocating to Charlotte. With a background that spans across all areas of clinic life, from client service to hospital leadership, Jennie is passionate about creating supportive, high-performing teams through mentorship and empathetic leadership.

Jennie is Fear Free Certified and committed to making every visit a positive experience. She looks forward to creating a safe, welcoming environment for both pets and their people at Charlotte Veterinary Hospital.

Outside of the clinic, Jennie shares life with Dilly, a Cattle Dog mix. Together they enjoy hiking, exploring dog sports like nose work and FastCat, and are excited to dive into agility soon!

Jamie Keller

Jamie

Registered Veterinary Technician

Jamie moved to Charlotte from Granite Falls, NC in 2003 with her husband. She began her career in the veterinary field in 1999 at a private, single-doctor practice in Granite Falls, where she worked for four years. After a brief time away from veterinary medicine, she realized it was in her blood and returned to the field, working in Hickory until relocating to Charlotte. Once in Charlotte, she joined a multi-doctor practice and remained there for over 20 years.

Since leaving that role, Jamie has become Fear Free Certified and enjoys educating pet owners and helping their pets feel more comfortable during veterinary visits.

In her free time, Jamie loves hiking, spending time with her husband and their chickens, and getting together with coworkers. She looks forward to this next chapter with her veterinary family at Charlotte Veterinary Hospital.

Shavon

Shavon

Veterinary Assistant

A proud Charlotte native and Garinger High School graduate, Shavon has been working in veterinary medicine since 2010, starting out in the kennels. With a lifelong passion for animals, it took a bit of time to find the perfect role—but the journey was worth it.

Shavon has a special interest in surgery and dental procedures and truly enjoys walking clients through the entire process—from what to expect beforehand to aftercare at home. Client education is a top priority, especially because Shavon remembers how overwhelming it felt to be a new pet parent without much knowledge.

Outside the clinic, Shavon loves reading, traveling, and spending time with both her two- and four-legged family and friends.

Mackenna

McKenna

Veterinary Assistant

Born in Denver, Colorado, McKenna has called several states home over the years—including New Mexico and Texas—before settling in North Carolina a decade ago. With 13 years of experience in veterinary medicine, McKenna began her career in shelter medicine in Texas and has been passionate about helping animals ever since.

Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is seeing sick or injured patients recover and return home to the families who love them.

Outside the clinic, you can find McKenna riding their motorcycle, coloring intricate mandalas, tackling wooden puzzles, or getting lost in a good book.

At home, she has two special pups: BeeGee, a 13-year-old one-eyed, three-legged Pit Bull/Labrador Retriever mix, and Ridley, an 11-year-old three-legged Black Mouth Cur.

Lynn Sparks

Lynn

Receptionist

Lynn spent most of her life in Cleveland, Ohio before moving to Charlotte four years ago. She has been working in Veterinary Medicine for over forty years. She initially worked as a Registered Veterinary Technician before transitioning to customer service. She is passionate about providing compassionate care to both animals and their owners.

Outside of work, Lynn enjoys spending time with her grown children, cherished granddaughter and her grand-fur babies. She is an avid sports fan, enjoys reading, hiking, and visiting the beautiful Carolina beaches.
